You must contact the high school directly to see how they are currently handling shadow days.
1. Should families notify teachers in advance of high school shadow days?
This is helpful to know in advance, but not necessary.
2. Are students excused from missing school for high school shadow visits?
Students are excused up to 3 absences for shadow days at local Catholic high schools.
3. Does my student need a note from the high school where he/she visited?
A note from the high school is not required. However, a written note from a parent for any absence is required upon the student’s return to school. Please be sure to include the reason for the absence (ex. student shadowing) so we can ensure the accuracy of our attendance records.
4. Do parents need to call into the school the day of the absence to get homework?
Parents should call the office to report the absence. It is the student’s responsibility to make up any missed work upon their return. Because shadow days are planned absences, students should coordinate with a classmate in advance to gather their assignments. The teacher can help facilitate this if needed.
